Beatbox events judge eliminations and battles in completely different ways, and the platform now honors both.
Eliminations: category scoring
The event manager configures 1 to 8 categories with percentage weights that add up to exactly 100 — with presets for the classic 3 and 4 category setups, and one for Live with Showmanship. Then they seat a panel. Judges can be added by typing a name the way you would say it: an exact username, a partial one, or a competitor's display name. If several members match, it says so rather than seating a guess on a judging panel.
Judges reach their sheet from the event page, the dashboard or the navigation, and score every entrant 0 to 10 in half-points per category.
- Once an entrant has every category filled, their row sorts into a live ranking by that judge's weighted total, top three highlighted. Entrants still being scored stay in a stable block below, so rows never jump around mid-entry during fast eliminations.
- Any category header is clickable — re-rank the sheet by Musicality alone, or Originality alone, to compare before committing.
- Submit my sheet turns on only when every cell is filled, with a countdown of how many are left. A submitted sheet locks, and Reopen my sheet is there while eliminations are still open.
- Clearing a cell genuinely deletes that score now, and the total honestly disappears until the sheet is complete again.
Every judge's sheet is structurally private — not merely hidden by the interface, but invisible at the database level — until the manager locks, verifies and publishes. Then all sheets become public together. An incomplete sheet never produces a total, so a half-scored entrant can never quietly outrank a fully scored one.
The organizer watches it fill on a live tally: per-judge weighted totals, the mean final, the Top 8 or Top 16 cutline, warnings for missing cells, and a green check beside every judge who has submitted.
Battles: votes
For bracket battles, judges vote A or B — plus OT when the event enables overtime. The manager sends a tied battle to its one and only overtime, and the revote has no OT option at all, so an event always progresses.
